Dear Entrepreneurs: Express Yourself!
Author: Jeff Maglin
In today’s fast-paced of being an entrepreneur, we have more than enough opportunities to express ourselves.
But are we really doing it in the best ways? Are we doing it in the true spirit of the entrepreneur?
You can build a blog and write to your heart’s content. You’ll be more effective, though, when people know you’ve written it.
Twitter and Facebook are great vehicles of expression for the modern day entrepreneur. They’re even better when you have thousands of followers.
Just like Lady Gaga, you have to start somewhere. Lady Gaga (real name: Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta) was just like you – and chose to express herself by following in the footsteps of Madonna (real name: Madonna Louise Ciccone) who originally expressed herself – in a big way. Madonna went from going for a career in modern dance to being named by Guinness World Records as the world’s most successful female recording artist of all time and being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She has starred in films and now she directs them. Madonna has even been dubbed an entrepreneur herself.
When you have something to say, follow the tried-and-true rhetoric: Say it loud. Say it clear.
Put your thoughts everywhere. Shout them from the treetops and through your online networks and blog posts. Take a stand for what you believe in.
Write an op-ed piece for your local or national newspaper or submit your blog piece to the Huffington Post. It’s okay to have a Letter to the Editor printed in The New York Times on your resume.
Not only will you get noticed, your business will too. Don’t be afraid: express yourself. Now you’re talking like an entrepreneur.
