Carmen is the co-Founder and President of ALTA Wealth Management. She is a frequent contributor to MSNBC, CNN and a regular guest on ABC’s “The View.” Carmen is the money advice columnist for Good Housekeeping magazine and a former financial contributor to CBS “This Morning.”
She is the former host and co-creator of television’s only daily personal finance show CNBC’s On the Money and is an expert contributor to The Dr. Oz Show, a regular contributor to NBC’s The Today Show, and has appeared often on Nightly News with Brian Williams, Piers Morgan Tonight, as well as EXTRA, HLN, and The Rachel Ray Show. She has been a weeklong expert lifeline on the nationally syndicated game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
A former special projects editor at MONEY magazine, Carmen writes for The New York Times, PARADE magazine, GLAMOUR, and has been the financial advice columnist for LATINA, ESSENCE, Men’s Health and MensHealth.com. Her advice has been highlighted in U.S. News & World Report, The Washington Post, ELLE, SELF, Redbook, and many others.

She is the author of two books, including the under-40 guide to personal finance, “Generation Debt: Take Control of Your Money,” (Warner Books/Grand Central Publishing) and “The Real Cost of Living: Making the Best Choices for You, Your Life and Your Money”. She sits on the board of the New York Urban League, the Council of Urban Professionals and VIVA Broadway.
Carmen has a master’s degree in psychology from Columbia University, Teachers College, a B.A. from Fairfield University and lives with her daughter in Brooklyn.
